More Fun Mondays! From May through October parks around the city have three consecutive weeks of Monday events – Movie Night, Wellness and a Community Celebration. Monday Funday programs meet children and families where they live, eliminate transportation challenges and create safe, and positive experiences for Allentown’s youth. Your support will allow this program to continue to grow.
Teaching kids to swim. In 2026, Allentown Parks and Recreation is seeking to add the opportunity for swim lessons and water-safety instruction in partnership with the YMCA. For many families, cost, scheduling and safety concerns create barriers that prevent children from ever learning to swim. Allentown Parks and Recreation’s “Safety Around Water” initiative is not just recreational, but life-saving. By providing lessons during existing playground programming—and transporting youth directly from their neighborhood sites—we can ensure that children who need swim education the most are the ones receiving it.
Enhancing Ithaca Park –Ithaca Park in South Allentown is a small neighborhood park with big recreation opportunities. In need of an estimated $200,000 in improvements, the Parknership is excited to work with the City for new playground equipment and surfaces, improved courts and accessible paths for all users. Ithaca is a highly used park that needs our support. It is also a gateway to nature with trailhead access to the trails of South Mountain Preserve.
