On Saturday, June 28, we joined City of Allentown officials, community leaders, and neighbors and friends for a ribbon cutting for The Allentown Parknership’s first project: a full-court basketball court at Stevens Park, 6th and Tilghman streets. The event kicked off a day-long celebration featuring community groups, Allentown non-profits, food and music.
Kyle Edwards from Inkwell was on hand working on a colorful new mural on the existing half court. The mural was developed through the AllentownU initiative. Designed and painted by local artists and residents, the mural is a visual tribute to neighborhood identity and pride.
Parknership board members Luis Acevedo, Simon Moore, Rick Kern and Anais Martinez were on hand along with Executive Director Ruffian Tittmann, who shared remarks as part of the ceremony.
Thank you to the City of Allentown for your partnership to complete the project so quickly. We are especially grateful to the neighbors around Stevens Park for their passion in making the space a true gathering place for community.
